Denmark has relaxed some regulations for foreign professional models, allowing them to work in the country without a work permit for short durations. A new rule effective June 1, 2024, allows professional models to enter Denmark without a work permit for up to three separate work periods of three days each within a 180-day period. This means foreign models can work in Denmark for up to nine days within a 180-day period without a work permit, as long as no single work period exceeds three days.
However, SIRI has emphasized that for foreign professional models to work in Denmark without a work permit, they must be affiliated with companies that organize major international fashion shows.
The authority also noted that to qualify for this exemption, professional models must either be exempt from the visa requirement or possess a valid Schengen visa that allows entry into Denmark.
As part of its revisions, Denmark has also opted to prolong the duration of residence permits issued to accompanying family members of foreign workers employed in Denmark. Under the new regulations, family members of foreign workers in Denmark will receive a residence permit valid for the same duration as the permit held by the working family member.
According to SIRI, this adjustment holds particular significance for accompanying family members of foreigners under the Pay Limit Schengen and the Fast-Track Scheme, where foreign workers can secure a residence and work permit for up to five years. Previously, their family members were limited to residence permits with a maximum validity of four years.
