Starting September 1, 2024, Denmark will require foreigners applying for residence and work permits to declare their salaries in Danish krone (DKK). The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) announced this change, stating that salary declarations in foreign currencies will no longer be accepted.
The adjustment means that all salary assessments will be made in DKK to ensure they meet Danish standards. This new requirement applies to both first-time applicants and those seeking permit extensions after the specified date. For extensions, salaries reported in foreign currencies will still be accepted if the original permit was issued before September 1, 2024, with conversions to DKK based on the exchange rate.
This change follows Denmark’s implementation of a new income requirement for work permits as of June 30, 2024. All applications submitted since then have been evaluated according to these updated salary statistics.
