Denmark received a total of 107,872 visa applications, reflecting the country's continued appeal as a destination for travel, work, and study. However, a significant portion of these applications were unsuccessful, as 21,509 of them were rejected. This means that 21.2 per cent of all visa applications were turned down by Danish authorities.
Among the nationalities facing the highest rejection rates were Moroccans, whose applications were rejected at an extraordinary rate of 100 per cent. Although only two applications were submitted from Morocco, both were denied, highlighting the difficulties Moroccan nationals encounter when seeking entry into Denmark.
The second most rejected nationality in 2023 was Iranians. Out of the total applications submitted by Iranian citizens, 76.65 per cent were refused. Similarly, Pakistani applicants experienced high rejection rates, with 69.49 per cent of their visa requests denied.
These statistics highlight the challenges faced by nationals of certain countries when applying for Danish visas, as the reasons for rejection can vary widely, from incomplete applications and failure to meet specific criteria to concerns over potential immigration risks. The high rejection rates for certain nationalities may be a reflection of Denmark's stringent visa policies, which are influenced by the Schengen zone's broader immigration regulations.
Denmark’s visa rejections in 2023 underscore the varying degrees of difficulty applicants from different parts of the world face when attempting to enter the country, with some nationalities facing especially high barriers.
