According to the French Ambassador to Kuwait, Claire Le Flécher, France continues to be a favored destination for Kuwaiti travelers, as evidenced by approximately 42,000 visa applications received by France's consular section last year.
She emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two nations, noting the significant number of Kuwaiti travelers who select France as a top holiday destination. Le Flécher mentioned that France, as the host of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, anticipates a substantial increase in global visitors during this event. Furthermore, she recommended applying for visas earlier due to expected longer waiting times and to mitigate potential challenges in the application process.
The French Ambassador to Kuwait advised that visa issuance typically requires approximately six weeks, in addition to the waiting period before the appointment, which can extend up to three weeks, depending on the timeframe. Moreover, she suggested that applicants initiate the process at least nine weeks ahead of their planned departure. She also disclosed that the visa sticker will now feature a stamp and a QR code instead of a signature.
In March of this year, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya reported advancements concerning the Schengen visa for Kuwaiti citizens. The Minister stated that either an exemption or a solution akin to the arrangement with the United Kingdom, such as a long-term online visa valid for five years, is being pursued.
Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya underscored the significance of such an agreement for Kuwaiti citizens, who currently undergo the visa process when intending to travel to the bloc.
