According to EU Helpers, the European Union endorsed visa-free travel for holders of Kosovo passports in April of this year, emphasizing that they would be entitled to travel without additional requirements like visas starting at least next year.
Concerns were raised, meanwhile, as Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, suggested that his nation should review the promises it has made regarding political and economic matters involving visas for Kosovo and Serbia.
Paris' remarks weren't well received. Furthermore, Viola von Cramon, the European Parliament's Kosovo Reporter, criticized them. She contends that the engagement with Serbia is not and should not be related to Kosovars' ability to travel without a visa.
According to Von Cramon, the European Union must honor its commitment to start granting Kosovo citizens visa-free travel beginning in 2019.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, emphasized that any suspension of Kosovo's visa-free access to the EU would "kill the dialogue with Serbia once and for all" because such a move would have a negative effect.
In response to Macron's remarks, the German Federal Government earlier this year reaffirmed to Express Newspaper that the nation's attitude on this matter remained unaltered.
The desire to visit other nations without a visa is strong among Kosovars. Even though the Balkan nation passed all requirements, according to an assessment by the European Commission in 2018, they have been waiting to do so for more than ten years, and the process is still ongoing.
Serbia and Kosovo both desire admission to the European Union. Brussels emphasized, however, that they should settle their conflict through a mediated dialogue first.
The VisaGuide.World Passport Index, which rates the passports of a total of 199 nations based on the strength of their passports, places Kosovo in position 186.
With a passport score of 12.55, its owners are only able to travel to two countries without a visa and just 13 nations without a visa, although visas are necessary for travel to 131 different countries.
