Spain’s visa application data revealed a significant trend of high rejection rates for applicants from certain countries, particularly within Africa. While applicants from Jamaica, Indonesia, and several other nations received approval at higher rates, individuals from five specific nationalities experienced far more frequent rejections.
Data indicates that these five nationalities faced the highest Schengen visa rejection rates for Spain last year:
1. Pakistan – 52.84% rejection rate
2. Nigeria – 49.85% rejection rate
3. Gabon – 49.65% rejection rate
4. Guinea-Bissau – 48.21% rejection rate
5. Ghana – 43.40% rejection rate
This means that between 43% and 52.8% of visa applications from these countries were denied. Pakistani applicants were the most affected, with 52.84% of their visa applications being rejected. Specifically, Pakistani nationals received 9,766 rejections. Nigerian nationals faced 6,457 denials, and Ghanaian nationals had 2,313 applications denied.
The high rejection rates for applicants from these regions underscore some of the challenges that individuals from certain countries may face when seeking travel opportunities to Spain and the Schengen Area more broadly.
