23,923 passengers were carried to and from the airport by 151 planes on this busy day, which signaled the end of the hectic holiday travel period.

During the winter season, Wizz Air and Ryanair increased their flight frequencies to Polish locations, which contributed to a 59% year-over-year rise in passenger movements. Last month, almost 10% of passenger movements were made to Polish destinations.
The Airports Council International (ACI) report for 2023 indicates that Malta International Airport has solidified its standing as one of Europe's top performers.
Malta, surpassing its peers in Spain and Italy, achieved fourth position in the EU+ region with a remarkable 6.7% increase in traffic in 2019. In the section, the top two slots went to Portugal (+12.2%) and Greece (+12.1%), with Iceland taking third place with a 6.9% gain.
Furthermore, Malta Airport had a record milestone of 7.8 million passengers in 2023, growing by 6.7% over 2019 levels. Malta was recently listed as one of the best EU travel destinations for 2024 by European Best Destinations, which is well-known for its yearly ranking.
