Program Overview
The Netherlands Agriculture Traineeship Program offers international candidates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in modern farming practices while working legally on farms across the country. Participants will be placed on professional Dutch farms—ranging from crop and livestock farms to greenhouses—under a structured traineeship contract.
Organized in collaboration with EU Helpers and licensed European partners, this program is ideal for those pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture, or related industries.
Key Responsibilities
As an Agriculture Trainee, you may be assigned tasks such as:
- Planting, harvesting, and maintaining crops (vegetables, fruits, or flowers)
- Assisting in the care of livestock (cows, pigs, poultry)
- Supporting greenhouse operations: pruning, watering, and packaging plants
- Operating light machinery or assisting with equipment maintenance
- Ensuring hygiene and cleanliness on the farm
- Following safety guidelines and supervisor instructions
Visa Details
- Visa Type: Long-term national visa for traineeships
- Processing Time: Approximately 3.5 months from application submission
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Educational Background
- Currently enrolled in a university program or graduated within the past 1.5 years
- Fields of study must relate to agriculture or similar sectors
- Veterinary students and graduates are not eligible
Age Limit
- Applicants must be between 18 and 29.5 years old
Language Skills
- Minimum B1 level of English, confirmed via interview with EU Helpers’ partners
Financial Readiness
- Must be able to fund travel, visa, and initial living expenses in the Netherlands Personal Qualities
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- A positive attitude and responsible behavior
- Leadership potential is considered an advantage
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents in English (or officially translated into English):
- CV in EU Helpers format (Include a recent smiling photo showing a motivated and reliable image)
- Diploma – Required if you are a recent graduate
- Letter of Enrollment – Required if currently studying (must include expected graduation date)
- Transcript of Records – Official academic transcript from your institution
- Passport Copy – Full, clear scan of all pages (no blurry or cropped images)
Nationality Eligibility
- Eligible: Candidates from all nationalities are welcome
- Not Eligible: Applicants from Pakistan, African countries, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Cuba, Libya, and Syria are currently not accepted for this program
