Prior to this, Eurostat disclosed that the overall number of overnight stays recorded in tourism facilities last year totaled 2.72 billion, which was 5.6% less than pre-pandemic levels.
Before the pandemic, according to Eurostat, there were 2.88 billion tourist nights worldwide in 2019. These numbers dropped to 1.42 billion in 2020 and 1.83 billion in 2021, representing a 91.1 percent and a 48.3 percent loss, respectively, from 2022 levels.
