Overnight stays by foreign visitors increased by 6.7% to 51.42 million. In contrast, it is reported that the number of resident visitors who stayed overnight dropped by 2.3% from the previous year to a total of 20.87 million.
In addition, the summer season of this year—which runs from May through September—has increased by 2.6% over the pre-COVID-19 timeframe.

According to data, in September of this year, Austria registered 12.24 million overnight stays in its lodging facilities.
This is the highest September amount ever recorded since 1991, exceeding the 12.15 million in 1991 and the 12.14 million in 1992. It is a 5% increase over the previous year.
8.57 million of the 12.24 million overnight stays in Austria's lodging facilities were accounted for by foreign visitors, a 7.4% increase over the previous year.
However, domestic visitors accounted for 3.66 million overnight stays, representing a 0.2% decline.
In terms of the nationalities of the visitors, the information shows that 5.15 million overnight stays were made by German visitors in September of this year, an increase of 1.8%. A notable 6.1% growth was also observed in nations like Liechtenstein and Switzerland, where 407.9 million overnight stays were recorded.
Furthermore, the number of overnight stays in the first nine months of this year was 125.9 million, up 11.6 percent from the previous year and only 0.2 percent behind the pre-pandemic levels, when Austrian lodging facilities registered 126.73 million stays.
