Starting next month, the authorities in Belgium will implement new work permit regulations in the Brussels Capital Region. The revised rules, effective from October 1, will modify the way minimum salary thresholds are calculated for certain work permits.
Under the new regulations, only the basic monthly remuneration will be considered when determining the threshold. This amount will be calculated as a percentage of the average gross monthly salary in the Brussels Capital Region, which is currently set at EUR 4,604 (approximately USD 5,075).
The adjusted monthly gross salary thresholds for different categories of permits are as follows:
- Highly skilled single permit: EUR 3,591.12 (78 percent of the average gross salary)
- EU Blue Card: EUR 4,604 (100 percent of the average gross salary)
- Intra-company transfer (manager): EUR 5,294.60 (115 percent of the average gross salary)
These changes aim to streamline the work permit process while aligning salary requirements with the region's economic landscape.
