As a plasterer, your duties will include providing quotes, consulting with clients, mixing materials, applying plasters, and reporting any building issues. Success in this role requires proficiency in both internal and external applications, the ability to work independently, and a thorough understanding of the client's preferences. A skilled plasterer should possess knowledge of various plaster types, including wet and dry varieties, and be capable of applying browning, bonding, thistle, carlite, and dri-coat as required.
Responsibilities:
- Providing cost estimates to clients and stakeholders for job quotations.
- Engaging in discussions with relevant stakeholders and clients regarding project plans.
- Inspecting and priming surfaces before plastering.
- Choosing suitable plastering materials for various site conditions.
- Safeguarding non-plastering surfaces with the appropriate protective materials.
- Applying different types of plaster to both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Rectifying and refurbishing previous plastering work as needed.
- Notifying the site foreman of any structural issues encountered.
- Mixing and preparing mortar, plasters, and other finishing materials.
- Collaborating with other contractors to ensure timely project completion.
Requirements:
- Possession of a trade-school qualification or completion of an apprenticeship under a certified plasterer/builder.
- Minimum one year of experience in a plastering role or similar position.
- Familiarity with various plastering techniques and materials.
- Strong communication and professionalism.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team, sometimes in adverse outdoor conditions.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- Understanding of material procurement procedures is advantageous.
- Proficiency in providing plastering quotations and cost estimates to team members.
- Experience with multiple types of plastering materials.
- Knowledge of decorative plastering and design is preferred.
