Travellers from countries such as Australia, Japan, China, Canada, and the United States are increasingly prioritizing safety when planning their trips to Europe. According to recent data from the Barometer, over half (52%) of respondents cited safety as their primary concern when choosing a holiday destination. This concern outweighs other factors such as must-see attractions (41%) and the availability of high-quality tourism infrastructure (39%).
The report also highlights the impact of rising inflation on travel budgets. A significant 66% of respondents indicated that they are spending between €100 and €200 per day during their European trips, a figure that has remained consistent. Despite inflation, travellers appear to be managing their expenses similarly, but the cost factor, combined with safety concerns, remains a critical consideration for those planning trips to Europe.
While Europe continues to attract visitors with its rich cultural heritage and world-renowned landmarks, the findings suggest that addressing safety and cost concerns will be essential to maintaining its appeal as a top travel destination.
