He made the observation at a plenary session that the pre-season, one of the finest ones to date, saw 800,000 arrivals and 1.7 million overnight stays, representing a 16 and 15% rise, respectively, for the continental counties, according to EU Helpers.
"Since the beginning of the year, 14.1 million arrivals and 74.5 million overnight stays have been achieved, which is eight percent more arrivals and three percent more overnight stays than last year," the PM said. He also noted that domestic tourism increased by 15% in both arrivals and nights spent.
Plenkovic also pointed out that Croatian rivers Sava, Drava, and Mura levels increased as a result of heavy precipitation in Austria and Slovenia. No significant spills, though, were noted.
In contrast, Brdovec municipality had more flooding, with the Drava river hitting high records.
According to the Prime Minister, who also thanked everyone for their participation, "during that period, all the services that were available to our citizens were engaged, totaling approximately 5,300 members of the army, police, fire brigade, Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, civil protection, Red Cross, Croatian Water, and numerous local residents."
TotalCroatiaNews reports that as of June 2023, Croatia's bill payments for card and cash transactions relating to lodging have climbed by 46%, going from €117 million to €171 million.
Additionally, it is apparent that fiscalized turnover increased from €275 million to €403 million between the first five months of 2023 and the equivalent period in 2022, again representing a growth rate of around 46%.
Cafes, restaurants, and other hospitality establishments brought in more money in 2023, similar to the lodging industry. More specifically, the sector's turnover increased by 30% from 2022, when €224 million was made. Approximately 5% more banknotes were printed during this time period.
Restaurant owners collected around €1 billion (€999 million) in fiscalized turnovers by the end of May 2023, which is 21% higher than in 2022. The quantity of bills issued increased by 8.4%, which is how the recorded turnover rise was attained.
Similar to that, taxi services and transportation saw an increase in income of 12.3 million euros from €9.1 million a month before.
