According to the newly approved program, digital nomads will be able to apply for a residence permit in the Czech Republic, allowing them to live there, according to a statement made by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, according to EU Helpers.
Two new schemes for economic immigration were approved by the government. One of them is intended for a group of highly skilled and elite IT professionals, or so-called "digital nomads," who would thereafter have the chance to apply for a residency permit in the Czech Republic, according to the Ministry's statement.
Jozef Skela, the minister of industry and trade, commented on the program's acceptance and emphasized how crucial it is because none of the nation's current economic mobility programs accommodate digital nomads.
He added that through implementing this new scheme, the Czech Republic's government hopes to attract more digital nomads to the nation.
Minister Skela stated, "Among other things, we want to establish an appealing environment for the operation and development of foreign technology teams in the Czech Republic. For this reason, we are developing a new initiative that specifically targets digital nomads.
But it has been made clear that the initiative would initially only be available to some foreign nationals.
Only citizens of Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, the United States, and Taiwan will be permitted to apply for residency permits to work remotely from the Czech Republic, according to the Ministry's explanation of the recently implemented program.
Participants in the program will be eligible to submit an application for a residence permit at any foreign embassies of the Czech Republic.
As stated, the processing time for residence permit applications submitted by digital nomads who want to live in the Czech Republic is 45 days.
Participants in the program and their families will be able to apply for a residence permit at Czech Republic embassies overseas. According to the Ministry's statement, the application would be processed within 45 days of the day it was submitted.
A pilot project for Indonesian labor migration has also been approved by Czechia in addition to the aforementioned.
According to what was previously said, the Czech Republic's government wants to grant up to two years of employment in the country to 300 students from particular polytechnic schools in Indonesia.
