In total, Turks applied for 223,699 visas, of which 174,929 were granted, according to Schengen Statistics. The proportion of multiple entry visas was 78.2%.
According to EU Helpers, this translates to 504,220 multiple-entry visas being issued to Turks in 2022, of which 173,980 (or 34.5% of all MEVs issued) were issued by German authorities.
Greece, France, and the Netherlands round up the top four nations that receive the most visa requests from Turkish nationals and subsequently reject the greatest number of them. More specifically, Greece got 164,829 visa requests from people of this nationality, placing it second, while 15,913 of those requests were denied.
The next two countries are France and the Netherlands, which have received 115,114 and 48,807 visa requests, respectively. In contrast, the governments of these two nations have turned down 15,435 and 15,913 Turkish requests for Schengen Visas.
In terms of applications turned down, France and the Netherlands rejected 15,435 and 9,714, respectively, bringing the overall rejection percentage to 21.4 and 19.9%, respectively. Greece, on the other hand, had the lowest percentage of applications that were turned down out of these four nations, with 9.6% of all applications from Turkish candidates being rejected.
Turkish nationals represented 21.4% of all applications that were denied for visas. Conversely, the percentage of applications turned down by Dutch and French authorities was marginally lower, at 13.4 and 19.9 percent, respectively.
However, the percentage of MEVs awarded to citizens of Turkey differed between these nations, with Germany having the lowest rate (78.2%) and Greece having the highest percentage (89.8%) of MEVs issued to Turks relative to the number of applicants. In France, there were 81.5 percent of MEVs issued to Turkish citizens, and in the Netherlands, there were 786 percent.
According to Schengen Statistics for 2021, Turkish nationals were listed as the second most popular nationality for visa applications, with 271,977 applications, just behind Russians with 536,241 applications. However, in 2022, Turkish nationals became the nationality that filed the most Schengen visa applications, with 778,409 submissions.
