According to EU Helpers, the prize was presented during the 30th World Travel Awards, widely known as the Oscars of tourism, which took place on Friday, September 29, 2023 in Batumi, Georgia.
Some of Europe's most stunning locations, including Austria, the Azores Islands, England, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, the Madeira Islands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Wales, were represented by nominees for the World Travel Awards. The Azores Islands had held onto this championship for the previous three years prior to this occasion.
Isaac Claver, the president of the provincial council of Huesca, accepted the honor during the gala ceremony.
Claver sees this honor as a significant accomplishment and a source of pride for Huesca. He makes it clear that the prize benefits the more than 300 businesses and freelancers engaged in adventure tourism in Huesca.
Huesca La Magia's victory highlights how highly desirable a destination it is. Several of Mother Nature's most spectacular wonders are tucked away in the province. It is the perfect place for skiing in the winter and trekking in the summer because of the gorgeous Pyrenees mountains to the north, which serve as a backdrop for both.
The Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that charms visitors with its views, is one of the area's riches.
While Huesca is renowned for its stunning scenery, it is also a paradise for those who enjoy an active lifestyle. Tourists who prefer water sports, such as kayaking, rafting, and hydrospeed, can choose from a variety of fascinating activities in addition to hiking, particularly in locations like the Mediano reservoir and the Congost de Mont-rebei.
Huesca stands out since it is known as the premier canyoning location in Europe. This heart-pounding activity, loved by both visitors and locals, challenges competitors to scale canyons, establishing it as an adventurer's paradise.
Huesca La Magia won the prize for "Europe's Leading Adventure Tourism Destination 2023" despite being nominated for two prizes in total, but it did not win the prize for "Europe's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2023."
