A Meter Reader is a professional who conducts fieldwork to inspect electrical meters at residential and commercial premises, ensuring accurate billing for energy usage each month.
As a Meter Reader, your duties involve traveling to customers' residences and commercial establishments to read their electrical meters and input the data into our central system. You'll primarily work independently, using a handheld device to document meter information for accurate billing.
Responsibilities include:
- Meeting customers at their locations to read meters if they're not accessible from outside and scheduling readings as needed.
- Assisting new customers with electricity and gas activation by connecting meters to the utility network and disconnecting services when necessary.
- Notifying supervisors of malfunctioning or tampered meters discovered during field checks.
- Conducting basic maintenance or minor repairs on meters at the request of customers or the company.
- Recording all shift details, including visited addresses, meter checks, breaks, and incidents, for daily upload to the tablet device.
Qualifications and abilities required:
- Demonstrated experience in a Meter Reader position or similar role.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Exceptional customer service aptitude.
- Capability to work autonomously.
- Appropriate training and/or certifications specific to Meter Reading.
