The German Embassy in Nairobi has announced new changes for Kenyan citizens planning to apply for visas. Starting June 2, 2024, applications for four specific categories—vocational training visas, study visas, visas for measures related to foreign qualifications, and research and science visas—must be submitted through TLScontact instead of directly at the embassy. TLScontact provides visa and consular services for various governments and clients globally.
The Embassy stated that due to the newly introduced changes, applicants must book appointments on the official TLScontact website. A service fee of €28.50 will be charged per application. Applicants should visit the visa application center at 4th Floor, 9 West Building, Ring Road Parklands, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya. Kenyans must book an appointment in advance to submit their applications, which can be done from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, at TLScontact.
Earlier this month, Kenya's State Department for Diaspora announced that the country is negotiating with Germany to establish a job migration framework. This framework aims to facilitate and outline the procedures for Kenyan citizens planning to migrate and work for German companies and institutions. The Kenyan government stated that the agreement is expected to be signed in September, pending approval from both governments.
In February this year, the German Embassy in Nairobi encouraged Kenyan graduates seeking employment in Germany to apply for a special statement online. The Embassy advised that all interested graduates in Kenya should apply for a Statement of Comparability online if they wish to find a job in Germany.
