Hungary attracted almost 16 million tourists in 2023. 7.1 million of those were foreigners, up 18% from 2022, according to EU Helpers.
Additionally, according to AboutHungary, a website run by the international communication office of the Hungarian prime minister, MTÜ recorded 41 million nights spent in 2023.
Accommodations brought in €2.2 billion (HUF 860 billion) for the tourism sector, a 23 percent increase over 2022.
Guller predicts that the industry will continue to grow this year in light of these numbers. László Könnyid, the CEO of MTÜ, stated that this year's visitor nights might surpass 43 million in relation to this.
According to the Budapest Business Journal, MTÜ hopes to have 20 million visitors and 50 million guest nights a year by 2030, with the tourism industry accounting for at least 16 percent of the country's GDP.
