Hungary’s state secretary for government communications, Zoltán Kovács, has clarified that applicants for the country’s National Card undergo the same migration and security screening procedures as those applying for other residence permits.
In response to concerns regarding the program, Gergely Gulyás, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized that the presence of foreign workers in Hungary, including 6,000 Russian nationals, poses no threat to EU security. He also noted that Germany currently hosts around 300,000 Russian workers, further underscoring that the expansion of Hungary’s National Card program is not a security risk for the European Union.
