Italian Ambassador Unveils Strict Anti-Immigration Policies
The Italian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Antonio Alessandro, announced new measures designed to curb immigration, particularly targeting human trafficking and migrant smuggling. Alongside these policies, the ambassador also emphasized efforts to enhance the processing of work visas, promising faster and more efficient services.
During a formal meeting, Ambassador Alessandro congratulated Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin on his recent appointment as Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, expressing optimism for stronger bilateral relations between Italy and Bangladesh.
Italy Accelerates Visa Processing in Dhaka
In cooperation with the Italian Embassy, officers from Italy’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation departments are now actively involved in the visa selection process, expediting the issuance of visas at the Italy Visa Application Center in Dhaka.
High Demand for Schengen Visas Among Bangladeshis
Bangladeshi nationals submitted 39,729 visa applications, with over a third of these applications aimed at obtaining an Italy Schengen visa. However, Italy maintains one of the lowest visa approval rates for Bangladeshi applicants, with only 40 per cent of requests granted. Sweden, Germany, and France follow Italy as the most popular Schengen destinations for Bangladeshi applicants.
