Position: Heavy Truck Driver
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate heavy trucks, such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, or tanker trucks, for transporting goods and materials to customer locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in proper working condition, reporting any defects or maintenance issues.
- Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, and other devices to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
- Follow designated routes and schedules, adhering to traffic laws and regulations, including hours-of-service rules.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service using electronic logging devices (ELDs) or paper logs as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address concerns.
- Monitor traffic and weather conditions, adjusting driving techniques for safe and timely cargo delivery.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding vehicle maintenance, safety, and performance.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing the transportation industry, including those related to vehicle weight limits and hazardous materials transportation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of truck cab and trailer, both interior and exterior, and proper storage of equipment and paperwork.
Requirements:
- Valid Class 1 or Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience driving heavy trucks, preferably in long-haul or commercial transportation.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices, traffic laws, and transportation industry regulations.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism in interactions with customers, dispatchers, and team members.
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other onboard technology for tracking and recording driver activity.
