The newest fleet of sleeper trains from the Austrian Federal Railways (BB) will start operating on December 10 and connect Hamburg, Germany with Vienna and Innsbruck, Austria.
In addition, BB will restart its Berlin-Paris night train service on December 11 nearly ten years after it was halted. The first passenger service between Vienna and Hamburg and Innsbruck and Hamburg is anticipated to begin in December of current year. On October 11, tickets for these lines will go on sale in advance.
In comparison to five years ago, train traffic between Germany and Austria has increased significantly in 2023, by almost 40%. The national railway companies of both nations have started working together to increase and enhance the transport alternatives available to people traveling between them in response to this rising demand.
Due to this, both rail companies will launch Nightjet trains in December that will link Paris and Brussels with Berlin and Vienna. Additionally, these connections will be accessible three times per week, and starting in the fall of next year, the service is anticipated to become daily.
The number of Nightjet connections that travelers can access to Berlin will effectively double as a result of this development. Both national train operators have stated that they want to quadruple the number of Nightjet passengers by 2030 in this regard.
