Interest in obtaining a Portugal Schengen visa remains strong as the summer season ends, with global searches for the visa rising by 90 percent, according to Google Trends. While not all searchers will apply for the visa, the increased interest reflects a growing desire to visit Portugal.
The heightened interest may be attributed to the recent extreme temperatures in popular EU summer destinations, prompting travelers to seek cooler destinations. For those planning to apply for a Portugal Schengen visa, it is advised to begin the application process well in advance. Applications can be submitted up to six months before the planned entry date, but no later than 15 days before.
Portugal, a popular destination for Schengen visas, received 207,654 visa applications in 2023. Of these, 173,927 were approved, while 33,220 were denied, according to data from the Schengen Statistics Portal.
