EU Helpers notes that the data shows a noteworthy 8% increase in overnight stays in September of this year when compared to the same month in 2022.
With 149,886 arrivals and 405,019 overnight stays, domestic tourists made up 25% of all overnight stays. This represents a 5.3% increase over the same month the previous year.
On the other hand, with 517,878 arrivals and nearly 1.2 million overnight stays this month, foreign visitors accounted for the largest portion of the total number of tourists, representing an 8.9% rise from the same month last year.
When it came to preferred travel locations, local tourists favored staying the majority of the night in the municipalities of Ankaran, Izola, and Piran.
However, of the foreign visitors, a substantial one-fifth of them stayed overnight in Ljubljana, which also proved to be the most popular tourist destination overall.
With respect to guest nationality, travelers from Germany accounted for 23%, or 267,500, overnight stays in September 2023, with the majority of these stays taking place in the municipality of Bovec.
The percentage of foreign visitors that contributed to the total number of overnight stays in September 2023, aside from Germany, was as follows: Austria 9.2%, Italy 5.7%, Czechia 5.5%, the United States 4.8%, and the United Kingdom 4.6%.
Furthermore, hotels continued to be the most popular alternative for lodging; 689,200, or 43% of all overnight stays, were attributed to tourists, making hotels the top choice.
Private lodging choices, like rented homes and rooms, ranked second overall with 23% of stays, followed by campgrounds with 14%.
There was a noticeable rise in the quantity of overnight stays at all categories of lodging as compared to the same month the previous year.
In particular, lodgings such as hotels reported a 7% increase in overnight stays, while private accommodations like homes and apartments had a 14% increase, and campgrounds experienced a 5% increase.
Furthermore, the Statistical Office disclosed that Slovenia reported 5.180.261 tourist arrivals in the first nine months of this year, up 5.1% from the same period in the previous year when the nation recorded 4.927.460 million visitor visits.
