According to the most recent EURES (European Employment Services) report, Slovenia is experiencing significant labor shortages in several critical occupations. The sectors most impacted by these shortages include:
1. Hospitality and Food Services: There is a notable demand for chefs, cooks, kitchen helpers, and other related food preparers.
2. Construction: Building construction laborers are in short supply.
3. Cleaning Services: Cleaners and helpers for offices, hotels, and other establishments are needed.
4. Manufacturing: The country faces a shortage of machine operators across various product types.
5. Transportation: Professional drivers are in high demand.
6. Skilled Trades: Toolmakers, welders, flame cutters, plumbers, and pipe fitters are among the professions experiencing a deficit of qualified individuals.
7. Forestry: There is a need for workers in forestry and related fields.
8. Security: Security guards are required to fill existing vacancies.
9. Healthcare: Slovenia is struggling to find health care assistants, nursing associate professionals, generalist and specialist medical practitioners, dentists, and physiotherapists.
10. Education: Teachers at various educational levels are in short supply.
11. Technology: The demand is high for applications programmers, software developers, and engineers across different disciplines.
Conversely, the EURES report highlights 36 occupations where there is a surplus of available candidates. These include roles such as receptionists, photographers, journalists, translators, and professionals in advertising and marketing.
This disparity in labor supply and demand underscores the need for targeted workforce development and training programs to address these imbalances and meet the evolving needs of Slovenia’s job market.
