The Consulate General of France has announced that visa applications from citizens of 14 Algerian provinces, or wilayas, will now be processed through its consular offices in the city of Annaba. This adjustment affects residents of the following provinces: Annaba, Jijel, Skikda, El Tarf, Sétif, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Biskra, Khenchela, and Tébessa.
In 2023, the Annaba consulate received a total of 53,379 visa applications from Algerians, according to data from the Schengen Statistics Portal. Of these, 61.3 percent, or 32,711 applications, were approved.
Despite this shift, the Consulate in Algiers, the country’s capital, continues to handle the largest volume of visa requests. In 2023, 152,411 applications were submitted to the Algiers consulate, with a higher approval rate of 69.6 percent, resulting in 106,124 approved visas.
These consular offices play a crucial role in facilitating travel between Algeria and France, and the recent changes aim to streamline the processing of visa applications from a broader region.
